Environmental Issues
Stone Lodge is dedicated to conducting its business in a professional and ethical manor, whilst doing it’s utmost to protect the environment by paying particular attention to its environmental responsibilities.
These responsibilities will be undertaken by implementing the following:
- The understanding and compliance of the relevant environmental legislation and regulation
- The organisation of our procedures to minimise pollution and disturbance to the local community
- The effective use of materials and resources with particular consideration of the long-term sustainability of consumable items
- Decreasing waste and emissions to air and water
- Appointing a manager within our company with specific responsibility for the implementation of environmental policies
- The introduction of targets to monitor our continuous improvement in environmental management and performance in key areas, including energy use, water usage and waste
- Regular reviews of the content and implementation of the environmental policy with the purpose of achieving constant improvement in performance through the adoption of best practice, training and awareness.
- The introduction of environmental criteria to assess the commitment to sustainable procurement
- The implementation of large recycling bins for glass, paper, card, plastic etc on each of our property sites
We are committed to our environmental policy and improving performance. The policy will be implemented in all that we do via the aims stated above. The aims and objectives set out in this policy require full co-operation of our staff, our clients and all those associated with Stone Lodge Group. Everyone has a role to play in the care of the environment. We utilise environmentally friendly practices in our properties in several ways including provision of energy saving lighting and shower units rather than bath tubs which require far less water and energy for heating the water. We also make tenants aware of our ethos of environmental practice and equip them with energy saving ideas such as:
- Not leaving lights on in unattended rooms.
- Turning down the heating by a few degrees on the central heating.
- Closing all internal doors to trap heat in.
- Not leaving TV appliances on standby when out of use.
- Only boiling the required amount of water when using the kettle and the hob.
- Keeping fridges routinely defrosted
- Using larger loads in the washing machine at a lower temperature
By recommending these simple procedures to our tenants, we are making them all aware of ways they can help the environment and reduce energy costs. By retaining environmental awareness at every level of our business we can reduce energy consumption and cut costs whilst protecting and preserving the environment.
